How to Look Good with a Bright Colored Top

It can be challenging to embrace new trends in fashion. The recent influx of bright colors and neon into male clothing designs has meant that the most fashionable choices are becoming very brave indeed. In order to feel comfortable, whilst also keeping your look current, you need to consider several factors.
Balancing with neutrals
When wearing a brightly colored piece as one of your core wardrobe items, it is usually best to neutralize the impact by surrounding it with plainer tones, for example if wearing a fuchsia t-shirt, pairing it with some relaxed dark wash jeans works extremely well. Alternately in the warmer months, choosing a sharply tailored white pair of shorts would have the same balancing effect.
Matching tones in patterns
Anyone already fond of bold prints should continue to incorporate color into their wardrobe by finding items in a block color from the same palette. For example, a vibrant royal blue top would look stunning next to a rich paisley print in greens and blues. Or as a less intense combination, pair a gingham print with a block colored shirt of the accent color.
Be aware of your skin tone
As a rule of thumb, people with darker skin tones should gravitate towards the brightest of shades, and paler skin tones should opt for pastels or darker colors. However, this doesn't mean that options for pale skin have to be less interesting. Instead of the fuchsia and lime colors, reach towards forest greens, mustard yellows and aubergine. Against pale skin, a slightly more muted tone will have just the strength of impact that a brighter color can have on someone with darker skin.

If you feel very comfortable wearing color, it is certainly worth considering wearing a matching t-shirt and colored trousers. To avoid this look becoming overbearing, break up the outfit using plain accessories. During cooler times of year this can be done by wearing a scarf knotted around your neck, but if the season is too warm, opt instead for a simple leather cuff on the wrist with a coordinating statement belt.
